Police are searching an area south of Dubbo for the body of Lateesha Nolan.
The search for Malcolm Naden's cousin is currently centred around the Butlers Falls area, where police are inspecting the banks of the Macquarie River.
The search is being conducted by officers from Strike Force Durkin - the strike force set up to capture Naden.
Ms Nolan was last seen at her grandmother’s West Dubbo home on January 4, 2005.
She was then aged 24 and described as 165cm tall, of medium build and complexion with green/hazel eyes and brown hair.
Ms Nolan’s car was later found abandoned near the Macquarie River.
Last month, Mick Peet, Ms Nolan's father, said Naden's arrest was a step towards finding out what happened to his daughter, but there was still a long road ahead.
"We'll never lose that pain of losing a loved one, but having lost a loved one and not knowing where that loved one is that's a pain that's pretty hard to describe.
"You have so many thoughts [about] what could have happened, but you just don't know the truth.
"To get the positive truth about what has happened to my daughter and where she may be, that will relieve a lot of pain that we've got inside us.
"You feel for the kids. Lateesha had four kids and you feel for them and all the other families that were affected."

The search for for the body of a woman, believed to have been killed by Malcolm Naden, will continue in the central west of New South Wales on Friday.
Lateesha Nolan went missing from Dubbo in 2005, the same year Naden went on the run.
On Thursday about a dozen officers, including a dog squad unit, searched the banks of the Macquarie River at Butlers Falls, south of Dubbo, for the remains of Ms Nolan.
Police vehicles blocked access to the popular water hole while earth moving equipment sifted through the soil.
Her father Mick Peet says he hopes the search will finally provide answers for her children.
"To get the truth and what happened to her, that'll ease a lot of our heartache," he said.
Mr Peet, who lives in Queensland, says he suspects the search follows on from the recapture of Naden last month, near Gloucester in the Upper Hunter region.
Naden was charged with the 2005 murder of Kristy Scholes, an assault on a 15-year-old girl, and the shooting of a police officer during an attempt to recapture him last year.
Police also suspect the 38-year-old former abattoir worker of being involved in the disappearance of Ms Nolan.
Mr Peet says he has been deeply affected by news of the new search.
"You get a tingly feeling all through your body, it's been seven years of wanting to know what happened to my daughter since she disappeared," he said.
"When Malcolm Naden was arrested I thought he was the person that may have all the answers, so we're just hoping that will be the start of a bit of closure for me and the family."
After his arrest Naden was taken to the super-maximum security prison at Goulburn in the state's south.

Police have begun searching for the body of an alleged victim of captured former fugitive Malcolm Naden in a river near Dubbo in central western New South Wales.
Lateesha Nolan went missing from Dubbo in 2005, the same year that Naden went on the run.
Her father, Mick Peet, spoke with the ABC today just after police informed him of the search of the Macquarie River at Butlers Falls.
Mr Peet, who lives in Queensland, says he suspected the search is connected with the recapture of Naden last month near Gloucester, in the Upper Hunter region.

Mr Peet said police would not tell him if the lead came from Naden himself.

As a child Lateesha Nolan and her family often visited the same river bank where police are now searching for her remains.
They swam and enjoyed picnics along the Macquarie river at Butlers Falls, near Dubbo in central western NSW, where her body may now be lying in a sandy grave.
Police began excavating the area on Wednesday evening, looking for remains of the 24-year-old mother of four, and continued digging large trenches into Thursday.
