There has been no sign of the accused murderer and rapist since two local officers came face to face with him while investigating a break in at a property in Niangala on December 21.

  •  EVERY time he hears his dogs bark at night Peter Norbury is petrified fugitive Malcolm Naden has returned, seeking revenge for the tip-off that almost led to his capture. Mr Norbury, who caught the accused murderer on a remote CCTV camera in his property, gave police the best chance of catching Naden, with officers getting within metres of him during a botched raid.
    He is scathing about how his information on the location of one of the state's most wanted men was handled.
    The car dealer saw Naden on the camera in his Niangala home, near Nowendoc, but said his initial call to police was ignored until he printed out an image and personally handed it to investigators from strike force Durkin.
    Living on the rural acreage with his wife and teenage daughter, Mr Norbury said the family now "feel vulnerable" and fear Naden's return each time they hear their dogs barking at night.
    "I gave the photo to the cops and look what happened," Mr Norbury said.
    "Now he knows I gave it to them and we've still got to live here. The last few nights the dogs have been going off four or five times a night.
    "That's unusual. There's something out there."
    The family installed the remote video system after a break-in almost two years ago, when bottles of wine were thrown around.
    This break-in was very different. Naden even washed up after cooking a meal.
    "Naden didn't make any mess at all," Mr Norbury said.
    "The cops made more of a mess than he did."
    Despite being spotted by two constables and running back inside the house, Naden managed to escape the dragnet in the days before Christmas, fleeing back into rugged bushland which has hampered the police search.
    Naden has been wanted since 2005 over the alleged murder of his cousin Kristy Scholes, with police also wanting to question him over the disappearance a few months earlier of another of his cousins, Lateesha Nolan.
